Assistant Professor – Exercise Science
Michigan Technological University is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education. Applicants in all fields of exercise science/kinesiology will be considered, but the department is particularly interested in applicants with interests and experience in the areas of biomechanics, neuromuscular physiology, or motor neuroscience. Expected start date for this position is August 18, 2008 (pending final budgetary approval).
Responsibilities/Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Exercise Science or related field. Teaching responsibilities include courses in Foundations of Kinesiology, Biomechanics of Human Movement, and other exercise science courses. Typical teaching load is two courses per semester. A successful candidate must not only demonstrate evidence of high quality teaching, but must also demonstrate a clearly defined research program. Candidates will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally-funded research program which will support graduate students and lead to high-impact journal publications. Research may encompass cellular/molecular and/or systems approach. Candidates are expected to engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service activities. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
