MessageSujet: Post-doc position at Stanford University biomechanical   Mer 30 Avr - 14:16

Position Available
Post-Doctoral Bioengineer
Stanford University

The Bioengineering Department at Stanford University seeks to hire a talented bioengineer to study the relationships between exercise and cartilage properties at the knee. The goal of our research is to assess the effect of different types and amounts of exercises on knee joint cartilage. Our underlying hypothesis is that cartilage morphology and biochemical properties in healthy joints can be positively influenced by increasing amounts of certain types of exercises. We will test this hypothesis by examining volunteers with different habitual and future exercise regimens.

The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, biomechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of computer modeling of musculoskeletal dynamics. Practical experience with magnetic resonance imaging is also helpful. The applicant must have excellent verbal and written English language communication skills. The applicant must be comfortable recruiting and interacting with human subjects.

The post-doctoral bioengineer will be responsible for all phases of the project, including subject recruitment, scheduling, testing, analysis, IRB reporting, as well as manuscript preparation. We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our team. The individual will work in collaboration with an established and productive team of investigators including Scott Delp, PhD, Gary Beaupre, PhD, Thor Besier, PhD and Garry Gold, MD. The individual will interact with these faculty, other post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students involved in biomechanics research at Stanford University and especially with members of the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory (http://nmbl.stanford.edu/)

To apply please send electronic copies of your CV and cover letter describing related experience and interest in the position to biomech-postdoc@lists.stanford.edu. Also, please arrange to have three letters of reference sent to this email address.

Highest priority will be given to applications received by June 15, 2008. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
